If you purchased a vehicle at a sheriff's sale (for example, a vehicle seized and sold by law enforcement or through
a court order) in Nebraska, you can apply for a Nebraska Certificate of Title using the following process:
What You Need to Title a Vehicle from a Sheriff’s Sale
1. Proof of Ownership:
The court order or sheriff’s bill of sale serves as your proof of ownership.
2. Application for Certificate of Title:
Complete the Application for Certificate of Title.
3. Title Fee:
Pay the $10.00 title fee. Contact your County Treasurer for accepted payment methods.
4. Sheriff’s Inspection:
A Sheriff’s Inspection may be required. Check with your County Treasurer for details.
5. Bill of Sale or Form 6:
If ownership is being transferred, you may need a Bill of Sale or a completed Nebraska Department of
Revenue Form 6 (Sales/Use Tax and Tire Fee Statement for Motor Vehicle and Trailer Sales).
6. Odometer Disclosure:
An Odometer Disclosure Statement may be required if the title is being issued by court order.
Where to Apply
Submit all documents to the County Treasurer’s office in the county where you live. The County Treasurer will verify
your documents and issue a Nebraska Certificate of Title.

In those rare situations, we will allow returns on those items. Returns are only accepted up until 5:30PM MST on the Thursday for the current week of auctions. For example, the Tuesday night auction begins at 5:30PM MST on Tuesday. You have 48 hours to return the item in question. Auction house staff will determine if a refund is given. We pay our sellers on the Friday following the auction(s). Therefore it is important to contact us regarding a refund before Thursday at 5:30 PM MST. Refunds will not be allowed after the 5:30 MST Thursday cut off each week.
